Specific Job Duties

Provident Credit Union is looking for an Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning and Insurance Services to ensure integration and support for financial planning and insurance products across the credit union. The position manages the long-term sales objectives, strategies and policies for the department and acts as the liaison between vendors and the credit union sales and marketing teams responsible for sales. The individual also acts as the sales manager, coach, and internal champion for all financial planning and insurance products. This individual also sets and monitors important service quality standards for the department and its vendors

Minimum Requirements

The position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a six-person financial planning team serving the Provident Credit Union Bay Area membership, as well as for managing the vendor relationship, delivery and integration of property and casualty insurance offered through its outsourced insurance agency, Provident Plus Insurance. It is also responsible for managing the marketing contracts, plans, product launches and program integration with third parties providing ancillary insurance services through the credit union service organization, Provident Services Corporation. The major ancillary insurance products and sales programs for which the position is responsible include mechanical breakdown insurance, credit protection and guaranteed auto protection (GAP), all of which are sold in conjunction with auto loans, and an accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance direct mail marketing program
- This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on financial services professional with at least ten years of progressive experience, with at least five years of people supervision and sales program management experience and profit/loss responsibility in the financial services industry. The candidate must possess a California Life and Health and Accident Insurance license and a California Fire and Casualty Insurance license. Candidates with Series 7 (general securities) and Series 24 (branch supervision) licenses will be given preference. Strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership and people skills and the ability to build support and commitment from diverse stakeholders across the organization to achieve sales and service goals are required. A working knowledge of financial institution operations, product/service delivery systems, and good computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook) are also necessary. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. An MBA is preferred

Develop and maintain a department of Account Executives

Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings
Conduct ongoing sales training sessions
Develop and implement an on-going business development strategy that utilizes the Account Executives and supports the objectives of the branch network in specific regions

Involve Branch Managers in business development activities
Develop and implement micro marketing plans for outlying community branches
Identify, coordinate, and participate in community events throughout the Bay Area
Oversee press releases and related public relations and communications activities
Coordinate and deliver home buying seminars

Consistently utilizes desktop marketing tools, e.g., pop screens, member profitability data, to increase personal service
Fulfill the required training classes for Personal Account Advisor Certification (i.e. CUES, Telephone Doctor, etc.)
Provides consistent education to members regarding Provident’ various electronic delivery channels. Advisor is a key player in moving transaction based member phone calls to self-assisted electronic channels
Follow up on sales leads received from ONYX, phone, mail, and electronic media
Acts as the liaison between members and relevant back office departments

Minimum Requirements

College degree or equivalent work experience desired
Minimum one year financial institution experience preferred
Minimum one year sales experience preferred
